Aims

CoopCities Learning from urban cities sustainable solutions to deal with the global challenges faced due to the COVID pandemic

Project Number: 2021-1-SK01-KA220-VET-000033080

The ERASMUS+ project CoopCities focuses on promoting the skills and competencies of urban actors in the context of sustainable urban development. To achieve this, the project implements the development, testing, and evaluation of a status report, a blueprint for serious game development, the serious game itself, and a learning platform. CoopCities has a duration of 24 months, with English being the project language.

Objectives:

The ERASMUS+ project CoopCities: Learning from urban cities sustainable solutions to deal with the global challenges faced due to the COVID pandemic aims to develop the skills and competencies of various urban actors to respond to unexpected challenges. Within this framework, the project aims to develop an innovative training model for vocational education. Trainers/educators will be supported in acquiring the skills and competencies needed to address the unexpected, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, in their cities.

The training model is combined with training materials: digital tools including a serious game and e-learning portal, video narratives, and digital case study report cards. These training materials are all available as Open Educational Resources (OER) on the project’s e-learning portal.

The project’s outcomes will contribute to key global needs: addressing climate change and environmental protection. It directly contributes to the Agenda 2030 for Sustainability (17 Goals of Sustainable Development – SDGs). Decision-makers will be specifically supported in relation to the priorities of Goal 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities and Goal 17 – Partnerships.

To achieve this, the following objectives are set:

  • Development of an innovative training model for vocational education trainers to provide them with the tools, guidance, and appropriate support for training urban actors (urban decision-makers, mayors, city officials, council members, local stakeholders, city advisors, consultants, relevant authorities, NGOs, international institutions).
  • Training of vocational education trainers to develop the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary to train urban actors and enhance their future impact in the field of sustainable cities.
  • Contribute to the development of skills among urban actors for building sustainable and resilient cities, empowering them to respond flexibly to challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

Project Outputs (Project Areas):

  • Development of an innovative training model for vocational education trainers.
  • Training materials and resources for vocational education trainers.
  • Enhanced skills and competencies of urban actors.
  • Increased capacity to respond to challenges and promote sustainability in cities.
